Key Bible Verses: For his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning (). Bonus Reading:Hebrews 13:1-3
Country music artist Ricky Skaggs and I were hurrying through the Munich airport, exhausted from several days with the hurting people of Bosnia on behalf of Operation Christmas Child, plus more than 24 hours of travel. But we hoped to do some last-minute Christmas shopping during our 45-minute layover. We spotted a young woman sitting in a corner, crying. She probably just said goodbye to her husband, I thought, and kept walking. But Ricky went over and knelt beside her. Come on, Ricky, I said to myself. We'll never get out of here!
Ricky patiently questioned the woman, who fortunately spoke English. He learned that she was in transit, had lost her airline ticket and didn't know what to do. He led her to an airline official and didn't leave her side until assured she'd be cared for. Then he headed back my way with a big grin, slapped me on the back and said, "You know, Franklin, 'Christmastime's a comin'" (the title of a bluegrass song he sings).
We still had time to shop. As we boarded our plane, I felt convicted. Even on a mission of mercy, I'd let my heart grow a bit hard.
Franklin Graham in Living Beyond the Limits
Respond:
Whose voice tells you "Of course you'd like to help, but you just don't have the time"?
Thought to Apply:
Man may dismiss compassion from his heart, but God will never.
William Cowper (English poet, 18th century)
