Key Bible Verse: In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Romans 8:37). Bonus Reading:Romans 8:31-39
Although I was raised by a single parent in the inner city and went to a gang-infested high school, God enabled me to earn an appointment to West Point. But in my second year I failed chemistry and was dismissed. I returned home humiliated and broke, with no job, no transportation. No college would accept me.
At this low moment, I remembered all God had brought me through and asked myself why He'd fail me now. I could at least go to a junior college. I enrolled, stayed with my grandmother, took a bus to school, and got a job there as a math and physics tutor. After an exceptional semester, I was accepted at a university and made the dean's list.
I taught at an inner-city junior college, then took an engineering position at Hughes Aircraft. While there, I met a Coast Guard officer, was impressed with his service branch, and went through the commissioning process. So seven years after leaving West Point, I became an ensign. I thank God for staying by my side and not letting me give up. Always trust Him. His love will carry you through your darkest moments.
