Gas Stop—2
This Week's Theme: Introducing Christ
Eastman Curtis
Tuesday, May 22, 2001

Key Bible Verse: So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view (2 Corinthians 5:16).
Bonus Reading:

Several months later we stopped by that same convenience store again. I handed Jeff some cash to pay for the gas I'd just purchased. Right after he walked into the store, a group of motorcycle ruffians drove up. These guys looked as if they were ready for a fight. As Jeff's youth pastor,

I felt responsible for him, so I prayed, "God, protect Jeff, and if he doesn't come out in three minutes, I'm going in after him."

Well, about 15 minutes later I decided I needed to go in and save Jeff. But when I opened the door, I couldn't believe what I saw. He had all 13 motorcyclists lined up against the beer cooler and was preaching Jesus Christ to them. Before we left that convenience store, two of them prayed and asked Christ to come into their hearts.

When we got back into the church van, I looked at Jeff and said, "What inspired you to do that?"

He replied, "When you spoke to that lady several months ago in the convenience store about Jesus, that did something to me on the inside."

Respond:

Have I witnessed a life transformed by the gospel?

Thought to Apply:

One is Christianized to the extent that he is a Christianizer. One is evangelized to the extent that he is an evangelist.

—Leo Jozef Suenens (Belgian prelate, 20th century)
