Hang Time This Week's Theme: Pacing Yourself

Key Bible Verse: Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted
that they might be with him (Mark 3:13-14). Bonus Reading:Mark 6:30-32
Tom Skinner and I helped leaders in Jackson, Mississippi, begin a citywide mission of racial and denominational reconciliation and evangelism. During two and a half weeks, Tom and I spoke roughly 50 times to people in high schools, civic clubs, churches, and a crusade.
The organizers faxed a demanding schedule to Tom. When he got off the plane, Tom, who was black, said, "After looking over this schedule, I realized there really are differences between white people and black people. Obviously, white people don't have to go to the bathroom!"
My natural tendency is to arrive at the last possible moment and leave the earliest possible. Tom taught me the importance of building into our calendars time to "hang" with people. He said some of the most helpful conversations take place during hang time.
I've adopted this philosophy, and can attest to its power. Some of your best business contacts come by simply "being there." The best moments with my kids happen because I'm there." My relationship with my wife turned around when I started lingering at the dinner table after the kids split.

Respond:
Do I need to loosen my schedule to make space for tending relationships?
Thought to Apply:
We live by demands when we should live by priorities.
