Key Bible Verses: You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience.

About 15 years ago, I spoke to students at the Baptist Student Union at the University of Oklahoma. Brian's thoughtful questions about living for God made him stand out. I spoke again a year later, and Brian was still there, intensely seeking God's will for his life. He asked if we could have lunch together, and we discussed living for Him in the marketplace.
Years passed and I occasionally saw Brian, since he'd gone into business in our area. One day he called, again, asking for a lunch meeting. During that lunch, Brian gave me a book on mentoring. "Would you consider doing this?" he asked. "I've underlined some things in this book. If you'd read it, we can meet next week to talk about it."
I've never seen anyone so eager to pursue God and learn how to honor Him in business. I wasn't sure what I was getting into. But I decided to meet with Brian weekly, grasping this opportunity to influence and be influenced by another person. We've both owned businesses where God is working. We're now close friends, and have impacted each other's lives. That's the joy of mentoring.
