Nearing Completion
Theme for the Week: Under Construction—Romans 7-8
Friday, September 14

Key Bible Verse: Those he justified, he also glorified. … In all these things we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:30, 37).
Bonus Reading: Romans 8:35-39

The developer ultimately completed those 18 homes on the site of the old estate near our home. In a similar fashion, God completes his work in us. When Paul says that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose, we aren't left to guess what He's talking about. God's ultimate "good" and "purpose" for each of us is to conform us to the likeness of Jesus so that we can call Him our brother. Our Father allows nothing in our lives except what makes us more like Jesus. This is the Christian construction process.

Paul says those God justified, He also glorified. The apostle describes the wonder of God's completed work by saying the difficulties of this life can't be compared with what will be revealed in us when we're fully redeemed, body and spirit, as children of the living God. When God finishes his construction, each believer reflects the glorious image of God's Son. When we're glorified, we're with the Father and like the Son. This construction isn't finished yet—and won't be until Christ's return—but the final product is so glorious, so evident to the eye of faith, that its worth is sure.

—Bryan Chapell in The Promises of Grace

My Response:
The fact that the Father has called me to be a brother to Jesus means . …
