Continual Construction Theme for the Week: Under Construction—Romans 7-8

Key Bible Verse: All things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). Bonus Reading: Rom. 8:9-17
When I moved to New Orleans, my work required weekly plane travel to and from the city. From my first visit to the airport, I encountered construction. Runways were re-surfaced, concourses rebuilt, and the terminal building received a face-lift. Parking lots were constructed and a parking garage built. Never over the last two decades have I seen a sign that said, "Completed: No More Construction!" At busy airports, improvements and changes are always being made.
Similarly, in the Christian life, no man of God has "arrived" spiritually. He's always "under construction." The work started the moment you trusted Christ. The Lord began to change the way you think and act. This transformation doesn't come instantly. It develops over time. And it doesn't happen by your effort alone. It occurs daily as you allow God to work in you.
Don't become frustrated if you see other men farther along than you in their walk with the Lord. Growing in the grace of Christ is a personal matter between you and the Savior. Just yield to His control and let Him do His "reconstruction" work in you!

My Response:
Have I assumed prematurely that God's building in my life is substantially finished?
Thought to Apply:
Full-grown oaks are not produced in three years, neither are servants of God.
