Key Bible Verse: Everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News (Philippians 2:12)
Bonus Reading: Philippians 2: 13-21

A Russian evangelist was imprisoned for religious activity back when Soviet authorities were oppressing the church. He wrote:

Put in a cell with about 100 others, I suddenly understood why I was there. I prayed, "Lord, it used to be so difficult to gather people in order to preach your gospel. Now they're already here. Make me a blessing to them." The Lord heard my prayer. In a short time 40 people believed in Christ. I taught them to sing hymns and pray. This angered the guards, who insisted that I stop. Since I didn't, they transferred me to a cell with hardened criminals.

At the same time, I received a parcel of bread, sugar, and clothes from my family. Entering the new cell, I set my bag on the floor, and looked around. "Men, today I received a parcel. Divide it."

A tall, sullen fellow silently took my parcel and divided it, returning the bag with my share. "Now tell us why you they transferred you here."

"Well in Cell 44 I taught people how to pray to God. The authorities didn't like it, so they threw me in here."

The leader smiled for the first time. "Very good! Now teach us."

—Gordon MacDonald in Mid-Course Correction

My Response:

Since the primary way to bless other is to expose them to the gospel, I need to . …

Thought to Apply:

The problem today is that the spiritual situation is desperate but many of God's people are not.
