The View in the Mirror Theme for this Week: For Example Stephen Arterburn Sunday, January 6, 2002

Key Bible Verse: You know that you ought to follow our example. We were never lazy when we were with you (2 Thessalonians 3:7). Bonus Reading:Acts 20:33-35
In a leisure-oriented culture, many people have learned to take the easy way and cut corners. They get by, but don't excel.
Nolan Ryan had more than 5,000 strikeouts, more than 300 wins, and more no-hitters than any other player in baseball. When he retired from baseball, he was the oldest player in the game, approaching 50 years of age.
He attributes his success to dedication, determination, and his love of hard work: "I've accumulated a lot of money, and I suppose I could coast for a good while if I chose to. But I'd go crazy not working. I enjoy manual labor; I enjoy working cattle. I get a lot of satisfaction out of doing a good job, whether it's mowing a yard, raking leaves, doing a flower bed, or building a fence.
"I don't like doing shoddy work or spending my time on something that isn't what it should have been or isn't going to last. I'll always be able to look in the mirror and know that the guy looking back gave the game and the fans and his ball club everything he had to give for as long as he could."
