Key Bible Verse: You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you (Colossians 3:13). Bonus Reading:Colossians 3:12-15
Ted and Joan, his government agency supervisor, didn't get along. Ted continually tried to tell her how she should run her department. An enthusiastic new Christian, he'd tried to talk to his uninterested coworkers about Christ. Frustrated with him, Joan gave Ted especially difficult work assignments, although she knew he had a back problem.
Eventually he injured his back and had to be absent for several months. Ted received some disability benefits but lost several thousand dollars in wages and medical expenses. So he filed a lawsuit against Joan and the agency.
Ted came to see me after he'd returned to work, and the lawsuit was moving through the courts. We identified ways he'd contributed to the conflict. Ted now leaned to settling the suit by accepting the $5,000 the agency had offered, although his damages were more.
A few days later Ted called to tell me he was dropping his lawsuit. The more he'd pondered his own fault, the less it felt right to accept money from the agency. Lay-ing down his right to restitution, he'd concluded, would demonstrate the mercy and forgiveness he'd received from God. [continued 4/17]

My Response: I'll ask God to show me how I've contributed to my conflict.
Thought to Apply: Forgiveness, like dimming our headlights, happens sooner when we take the initiative. Source unknown
