Key Bible Verse: "Take Joshua

In bed that evening, Mark replayed the day's events in his mind. His thoughts drifted back to a business course in college, where the prof had singled out a guy named Caleb, passed over for a promotion by God when Moses died. Mark reached for the light and his Bible to piece the story together.
Of the 12 men sent into Canaan to scout it out, only Caleb and Joshua encouraged the Israelites to trust God and go into battle. For this, decades later, they were the only men of their generation allowed to enter the Promised Land. God then selected Joshua as Israel's leader.
"Why wasn't Caleb promoted?" Mark thought. "He was almost killed for his scouting report. He'd been just as faithful as Joshua."
Reading on, Mark reencountered Caleb. Now 85 years old, when most people would be packing it in, Caleb was asking Joshua to assign him land in Hebron so that he could drive out the Anakitesthe same giants who'd panicked the 10 other scouts. He wasn't bitter. He didn't complain. He put his faith in God and rolled up his sleeves.
Mark now knew how to deal with his own situation: redouble his efforts over the next year.
