Key Bible Verse: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Bonus Reading:Romans 5:611
After several bad years, a farmer went to see the manager of his bank. "I've got good news and bad news," he announced.
"Give me the bad news first," the banker responded.
"Okay. With the drought and all, I won't be able to pay anything on my mortgage this yeareither on the principle or the interest."
"Well, that's pretty bad."
"It gets worse. I also won't be able to pay anything on the loan for all that machinery I bought.
"Wow, that's bad."
"It's worse than that. I also borrowed to buy seeds, fertilizer, and supplies. Well, I can't pay anything on that either."
"That's really awful! So what's the good news?"
"The good news," replied the farmer with a smile, "is that I intend to keep on doing business with you."
There's some profound theology in that story, provided we reverse the subjects. The good news of the gospel is that in spite of our total moral bankruptcy, God keeps on doing business with us. In spite of the hopelessness of our predicament, God has found a way to restore us to a relationship with Himself and to bring us personal healing.

My Response: I'll thank God that, in spite of my bankruptcy, He keeps on "doing business" with me.
Thought to Apply: Faith is not merely you holding on to Godit is God holding onto you. E. Stanley Jones (missionary to India, 20th century)
