Key Bible Verse: I will praise you seven times a day because all your laws are just (Psalm 119:164). Bonus Reading:Ephesians 6:1819
When I was a kid, a favorite pastime was to take in the Saturday matinee. It didn't matter much what was on. I'd head to the snack bar and plunk down my nickel for a Holloway's All-Day Sucker. Now I was set. This caramel delight would last me through the entire movie, all the way home, into the evening, and I'd still have some left for the next day. It came in a kind of wax paper, so I could just wrap it up after a few licks and tuck it in my pocket, ready for another tasty go later.
Wouldn't it be great if we could stretch out our times with the Lord like that? Or, at least have them available at different times of the day to refresh, reorient, and re-energize us?
In fact, in the Bible, this is precisely what we see. The psalmist says he kept seven such times. Daniel prayed three times a day, like clockwork (Daniel 6:10). The apostles honored what were called the "hours of prayer" (Acts 3:1; 10:9).
We're no busier than Daniel or Peter. If they could do it, and be blessed by it, so can we. There's an all-day delight waiting for us if we're willing to make the effort.
