The Intelligence Factor
Theme of the Week: Storm the Gates
Thursday, July 25

Key Bible Verse: In order that Satan might not outwit us … we are not unaware of his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:10-11, NIV). Bonus Reading:Psalm 18: 30-36

In the 1991 Gulf War, a U.S.-led coalition defeated Iraqi strongman Sadaam Hussein decisively (Allied losses: 149 versus Iraqi losses of 100,000 or more) and quickly (only 100 hours). Sadaam's army outnumbered the coalition forces two to one and were well dug into their desert fortifications. But the allied commanders had a key advantage. They'd learned he planned to replay the same strategy he used in the 1980-88 war with Iran. So they knew exactly how to defeat him.

The Allied generals, led by General Norman Schwarzkopf, devised a strategy of encirclement. While U.S. Marines conspicuously practiced for a seaborne invasion along the Kuwaiti coast, drawing Sadaam's attention in that direction, the main coalition force massed for an invasion across the desert. Knowing the exact location of Sadaam's tanks and artillery, the coalition pounded those locations with everything from bombers to helicopters. Knowing that Sadaam's forces were dug in behind sand berms, allied troops practiced bulldozing and storming similar barricades until they could do it in their sleep.

In spiritual warfare, also, the key to victory is to know your enemy—and his strategy.

—Ray Stedman in Spiritual Warfare

My Response: Satan's strategy in attacking me has been:

Thought to Apply: Forewarned is forearmed.

0Prayer for the Week

I'm reporting for duty, my Commander in Chief. Grant me the required discipline, passion, vision, and willingness to risk to accomplish the mission You have for me.
