Getting the Big Picture Theme of the Week: Taking the Long View Sunday, October 6
Key Bible Verses: Don't you know that someday we Christians are going to judge the world?
Don't you realize that we Christians will judge angels? (1 Corinthians 6:2-3). Bonus Reading:Hebrews 10:32-37
Suppose you sit down to read a book. It begins, "It was a dark and stormy night." You stare at the first letter, trying to figure out what I means. It makes no sense, so you move on to the second letter, t. "I wonder what the author means by t," you say. "I
t. Oh! He means it! Now we're getting somewhere." Then you examine the next letter, w. After 30 minutes of this, you haven't made it through the first sentence. Why? Your perspective is too small.
You can expand your understanding if you'll read words instead of letters. You'll enlarge it more if you read complete sentences instead of individual words. To acquire the big picture, you must read paragraphs, chapters, the whole book.
Too many of us view our life experiences from the "letter" perspective, forgetting about how everything fits into God's plan. If we see the big picture first, the little pieces start making sense.
Your calling extends beyond this present world. Paul tells us that we're in training for some spectacular heavenly assignments.
