Key Bible Verse: The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them (Luke 4:42). Bonus Reading:John 13:1-5
Once you've settled your purpose"why" you existyou have a basis upon which to pick your priorities"what" you'll concentrate on. To set priorities simply means to "pre"-decide which possible uses of time and money have greatest value to you. This way, when you must make a choice, you have guidelines in place through which to filter your decisions.
Early in His public ministry in Galilee, a crowd tried to pressure Jesus to stay with them. Because Jesus knew His purpose, He was able to set priorities in advance that helped Him decide what to do. "He replied, 'I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other places, too, because that is why I was sent'" (Luke 4:43).
Jesus' purpose was to preach the gospel to the towns throughout Palestine. Because of His priority of visiting "other places, too," he didn't waver back and forth when they pressured Him to stay. Jesus decided how to spend His time based upon priorities, not pressures. And that's the lesson for us.

My Response: I'll write down how much time, money, and ability I'll devote to God, people, work, rest, service.
Thought to Apply: If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.
