Key Bible Verse: Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead
(Hebrews 6:12). Bonus Reading:2 Peter 1:3-11
While in prison in New Zealand in 1998, Clint Hallam lost his hand to a chain saw. Not too long after, he was given an incredible opportunitythe chance to receive the world's first hand transplant, donated from the victim of a motorcycle accident. The transplant was a success, and Hallam had a new hand. All he had to do was take some medicine every day and continue physiotherapy.
Somehow the chance to have two good hands didn't impress Hallam. One day at a time, he made little decisions not to take care of himself, and over the next couple of years, he let his new hand die. Finally, surgeons had to remove it and throw it away.
Many of us make similarly poor decisions without even realizing it. We decide to work late or all day Saturday. We forget our kids' band concerts and miss their soccer games. We can't seem to find time for breakfast with our wife, or we neglect to to surprise her occasionally with a bunch of flowers. Wasting the gift of a loving wife, of children, of health can happen one drink, one concert, or one bunch of forgotten flowers at a time. Men, we need to take the time to cherish our gifts.
