Time to Quit?
Theme of the Week: Work in Progress

Key Bible Verse: I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be (Philippians 3:12). Bonus Reading:Phil.1:3-11

Years ago, when Dr. D. E. King was down to preach for us, I told him, "I'm glad you're here, because I'm about to make an announcement."

"What you gonna say?" he asked.

I said, "I'm about to tell the people that the Lord has fired me."

"Why?" he asked. So I told him the stupid thing I'd done.

He said, "That is bad. But what does that have to do with God firing you?"

I said, "Well, God would have to fire anybody who'd do anything like that."

Dr. King said, "Here's what I hear you telling me: Once upon a time God looked out over the earth and saw a clean, unspoiled, untainted and brilliant young fellow named Hill. He was so impressed with Hill that He called him to preach. Later on He discovered some facts He wasn't aware of when He originally called him. So He's called the council back together and is withdrawing the call in light of the evidence He didn't have when He first called you."

I said, "You know that isn't true!"

He said, "I know. God ain't through with you yet! He's working on you."

—E. V. Hill in A Savior Worth Having

My Response: Today, I'll thank God for not giving up on me.

Thought to Apply: You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.

—Edwin Louis Cole (Christian Men's Network founder)

0Prayer for the Week

Lord, don't let me accept staying stunted; give me the desire to develop into a solid disciple.
