Why We're Not Safe Theme of the Week: Become a Safe Male

Key Bible Verses: For lust is a shameful sin.
It is a devastating fire that destroys to hell (Job 31:11-12). Bonus Reading:1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
An "oldies" station was playing the familiar "Standing on the corner, watching all the girls go by." A line I'd never noticed before goes, "You can't go to jail for what you're thinking
." That line jolted me, because it reflects the predatory thinking behind the epidemic of rapes, molestations, and harassment reported in the news.
As a pastor, I've learned that violence isn't only "out there" happening to others. I've heard dozens of stories from women abused as children, molested as students, raped on dates, harassed at work, seduced by doctors, pastors, or counselors, or otherwise devalued, intimidated, or exploited simply because they were female. This came home to me when my wife, Cathy, began having memories of her own childhood sexual abuse.
I've been moved to cry to God, "Where are the males in this world to whom women can relate in absolute safety? Where are the men who don't in their thoughts, body language, preferences, or humor, objectify and degrade women?"
