Key Bible Verses: Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy
. Jesus reached out and touched the man (Luke 5:12, 13). Bonus Reading:Luke 5:12-15
John Hazzard was the last person anyone would have expected to get saved. A drug mule for nationally organized gangs, he was AIDS-infected from sharing needles while shooting heroin, a habit acquired at age 14. John had been in several drug rehabilitation centers and mental hospitals and had only a third-grade education.
Our ministry team worked with John when he became serious about God, and he became a changed man. We found a tutor to help him learn to read and write, so he could study the Bible for himself. John had been told he had only six months to live. But John lived for another four years and became an integral part of the ministry.
We placed a donated television, VCR, and stack of Christian teaching tapes in a multipurpose room to disciple John while we were busy. One-on-one discipleship occurred in the evenings.
Soon John opened his home and continued to witness with us. As John's body deteriorated from AIDShis T cell count was only 23 and he weighed just 80 poundshis light shone brighter and brighter. He went on 14 missionary trips, even as his body wasted away.

My Response: I'll thank God He's filled heaven with unlikely candidates.
Thought to Apply: Give up on no man as long as he is alive; until he is laid in the grave, give up on no man.
