Key Bible Verses: Your godly lives will speak to them better than any words. They will be won over by watching your pure, godly behavior (1 Peter 3:1-2). Bonus Reading:1 Peter 3:13-17

Over the next few weeks, Tom approached me to engage in conversations about life and what I believed. I listened, intrigued at how a man in love with philosophy and poetry crumbled into a worn-out soul whose only pleasure involved sex with men who never really cared for him.

One night, I walked into the bar Tom frequented and I saw Tom sitting alone at the bar. I went over and sat beside him. His head was down, and he was quiet. This was unusual for the boisterous, energetic Tom I knew. He was slightly drunk and completely broken. He still bore a black eye from an encounter he didn't wish to discuss. At first, he made attempts to be funny and get a laugh from the crowd. No one was responding. I sat silently, hoping to offer some comfort. Then suddenly and quietly, he said, "I don't know why you care about [trash] like me."

Up until then, I hadn't fully presented the gospel. In that moment, the door opened, and I began to describe the incredible love of God. I told him how I'd felt like "trash" at one point in my life, and that God had died for "trash" like us because of His incredible love.

My Response: Am I ready to describe what God has done for me?

Thought to Apply: A Christian's life is the world's Bible.

Lord, shine in me and so be in me that all with whom I come in contact may know Thy presence in my soul. —John Henry Newman
