Rid of the Jitters Theme of the Week: Fear Factor

Key Bible Verse: When I pray you answer me; you encourage me by giving me the strength I need (Psalm 138:3). Bonus Reading:Psalm 56:1-13
Each game in the play-offs is a moment of truth. Once again you have the gut check. Can I defeat this opponent? Am I ready? Regardless of how intimidated you feel, you have to take out your weapons and start firing. You need courage to step up to the line when you feel like running and hiding. You can get nervous, have a beer, call a friend and watch some television, or you can get on your knees and thrust yourself into the presence of God. Pray to get an answer. Ask God for courage. I've prayed for courage for years. I don't get pregame jitters going into the big games now. I fret a little about whether my muscles are properly warmed up. I'll run down the hall to get them more limber. But I release my pressures to Jesus.
Having courage doesn't mean you won't experience fear, but that fear won't control you. Courage enables you to encounter hatred, disapproval, and contempt without leaving what's right. Cowardice causes you to shrink from duty, danger, and pain and yield to fear. Fear is a natural emotion. How you deal with it makes the difference. A hero is just a person who's willing to stay in the battle zone a little longer than the average guy.

My Response: Am I learning to release my pressures to Jesus?
Thought to Apply: Courage is fear that has said its prayers.
