Key Bible Verse: And "don't sin by letting anger gain control over you" (Ephesians 4:26). Bonus Reading:Proverbs 16:32; 19:11
Milton served as our volunteer sound man. He'd worked professionally for well-known entertainers, and experts widely considered him one of Hawaii's best. Although he wasn't a Christian, our music director asked him to assist us in our Easter services, to be held in a 10,000-seat basketball arena. In such a huge place it would take a miracle of electronic proportions to control the sound. We expected 6,000 attendees at each of three services.
We rented the necessary truss systems, lights and speakers, to the tune of $24,000no small outlay of cash. At our first service on Saturday night, an annoying hiss began in the speakers. By the time I got up to preach, it had grown into a mighty rushing wind. I tried my best to keep calm, but I'm sure my frustration bled through, especially when I thought of how much this electronic windstorm was costing us.
The Lord was gracious and many came to faith that evening, but still I felt upset. As I descended in wrath from the platform to give our sound man a piece of my mind, my music director caught up with me. [continued 9/18]
