Bumping into Rodi Theme of the Week: The Buddy System

Key Bible Verse: Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy (Proverbs 27:6). Bonus Reading:Proverbs 9:7-9
Rodi and I were interested in the same girl for a while and first met at her sorority house. We kept bumping into each other on and off campus. Beginning to wonder if God was trying to tell us something, we had ice cream together to get acquainted. Later, at a student leadership conference we both attended, we were challenged to find someone with whom to commit to a deep friendship. Rodi and I talked and prayed about it. We decided to become accountable to each other.
As the months passed, we learned the good and the bad about each other. I gave Rodi permission to tell me when I was wrong or headed down a dangerous path. And he gave me the same permission.
Today, I don't make a major decision without his input. He knows my strengths and weaknesses, and how and where I'm tempted. He's a sounding board. He checks my motivations. Rodi knows me well enough to ask the tough questions. Sometimes he simply confirms that I've made a mistake; other times he shines a light into an area where I can't see that I'm stumbling. Rodi and I want to help each other become more like Christfor life.

My Response: What guy is (or could be) my sounding board and adviser?
Thought to Apply: I didn't find my friends; the good Lord gave them to me.
