Key Bible Verse: So why do you condemn … Why do you look down on another Christian? (Romans 14:10). Bonus Reading:Romans 14:10–13, 17–19
After reading in the paper about the latest controversial denominational action, it's tempting to wonder how people in that denomination can call themselves Christians. Welcome to the "I'm fine—you're defective" wing of Christianity. Surrounded by believers much too like us, we assume that God has ordained the way we express our faith as the one and only way to worship.
There's one family of God called to celebrate a risen Lord together. From a distance it's easy to judge the faith of others. It helps to experience them up close and personal. Since I travel for a living, I've been blessed to worship in different lands. I've shared in prayer with an Amish family, passed candles with babushkas in a Russian Orthodox cathedral, started singing too early in Westminster Abbey, and listened for a word I could understand in a Swedish sermon. Each worship service provided a unique window into the kingdom of God. Let's judge less and celebrate our common faith more.

Lord, turn my critical eyes inward so I may grow in grace. Transform my snap judgments of other Christians into prayer, understanding, and service.
