Key Bible Verse: Not to us, O Lord, but to you goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness (Psalm 115:1). Bonus Reading:Ezekiel 36:22–32
Though some critics falsely consider Christianity arrogant, some Christians may have opened the door for criticism because they think of themselves as better than other people, rather than focusing on what a wonderful Savior Jesus is.
William Wilberforce reflected a different attitude. On the night the British parliament voted to abolish the Slave Trade Act, speaker after speaker rose to praise Wilberforce for his long and bruising battle against slavery. "The House rose almost to a man and turned toward Wilberforce in a burst of cheers. Suddenly, above the roar and quite out of order, three hurrahs echoed while he sat, head bowed, tears streaming down his face."
How did Wilberforce celebrate? He meditated on [today's Key Bible Verse]. He replied to a congratulatory note saying, "You do me far more honor than I deserve. I am only one among many fellow laborers." How sad it is to meet Christians who always talk about what they have done. And how refreshing to meet those who are so eager for God's glory that they don't spend much time dwelling on their achievements.

Thought to Apply: Other sins find their vent in evil deeds, whereas pride lies in wait for good deeds to destroy them.
