Key Bible Verses: He reached down from heaven and rescued me; … He led me to a place of safety (Psalm 18:16, 19). Bonus Reading:Psalm 18:1–6, 16–36
Dad taught me to ride a bike. He'd grab the back of my banana seat and trot along behind me, holding me up. "Don't let go!" I'd say on every attempt. "Hang on till I'm going strong."
"Don't worry," Dad would reply, "I'll be here as long as you need me."
I perceived a serious problem with this system: I could not see my father behind me. I was so shaky I didn't dare glance over my shoulder. With both eyes focused on the street, I couldn't keep an eye on Dad. All I could do was keep pedaling, believing he was behind me and would do what he'd promised.
Dad always did. I careened and wobbled, slipped off the pedals, fell off the seat, and hit every pothole, but Dad kept his grip. On those evening rides, I discovered that I didn't have to see someone with my eyes to count on him with my heart.
That's how I learned that an unseen God can still be trusted. Life is a bumpy ride with bad brakes. But I don't have the urge to look over my shoulder as often these days. I just keep on pedaling, hanging on to the handlebars, and trusting. And somewhere out of sight God hangs on to me.

My Response: Is my reliance on the trustworthiness of an invisible God growing? How can I tell?
Thought to Apply: All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.
