Key Bible Verse: "This is not right. This is wonderful news, and we aren't sharing it with anyone!" (2 Kings 7:9). Bonus Reading:John 4:4—15
An experience with a friend during my teen years convinced me I needed to be more aggressive in voicing my beliefs. He was two years older. We both played as point guards in our school basketball team. I hoped to take his place as a team leader when he graduated.
Before then, though, he heard the gospel. He shared his experience with me, concluding his testimony with a smile. But, as I walked off with him, the expression on his face changed to a real concern. He invited me to follow Jesus.
When I told him I already was following Jesus, he stopped walking. Staring at me, he asked, "If you've been a Christian all this time, why did you never tell me I needed to become one?"
His question pricked me. If I truly believed what I thought I believed, why had I talked with him about everything—sports, music, girls, family, school—except what mattered most?
Was I ashamed! My attitude changed. I began to witness to classmates, team- mates, and strangers. I spoke, taught, and wrote about the gospel. God had reminded me that we live on a planet covered with thirsty people.

My Response: Who do I know that might be thirsty? How can I offer water?
Thought to Apply: Why is it so important to identify yourself as a Christian? So that those who want to be introduced to God will know who to go to.
