My family used to live in the country outside of Pensacola, Florida. One neighbor lived behind us, another lived in front across the road, and two more families lived on each side of us. We didn't hammer on their doors in the dark of night to shove a gospel tract in their faces. Instead, we decided to visit them, blessing them with a freshly baked pie, cake, or loaf of bread as a gift. When we introduced ourselves as neighbors and gave them our gift, we included a card with our phone number that read "We're here if you need us."
What about you? Are you bold enough to invite your neighbor to your house for coffee or a cookout? Just say, "Hey, we're here in the neighborhood. What better way to meet you than to sit down for a cup of coffee or some good barbecue?"
As the evening winds down, just matter-of-factly tell your new acquaintances, "You know what? We're believers in the power of prayer. If there's anything in your life that you need help with, let us know if we can pray." You don't have to make a big production or a high-pressure sales pitch; just say, "We'd like to include you in our prayers if you don't mind."
