Weekend Wrap-up Theme of the Week: 'Can You Hear Me?' Saturday, June 5, 2004
 1 of 1

Scripture has a spare, lean, and sometimes frustrating way of cutting to the chase.
Take, for instance, the passage we're going to look at today. Here's Enoch, a guy who lived a whopping three-and-a-half centuries. Yet the Bible is content to characterize his whole life with one descriptive phrase, which it basically says twice!
While we're thinking about Enoch, you might also ask yourself if there's a phrase that could sum up your inner life so far. Interact with God's Word
Genesis 5:22-24
- In this passage, we're told Enoch enjoyed a close relationship with God throughout his long life. Why is the term "walk," carried over from the Hebrew in many translations, a good metaphor for this?
- This week's online poll asks whether you feel like God is beside you in your daily walk … or ahead of you … or if you feel like you're pretty much on your own. What did you—or would you—answer?
- What may you need to do to improve your listening skills?
Spend Time in Prayer
Ask God to help you find the time and focus to center down on Him until you sense in your spirit that you have heard from Him.
Genesis 5:22-24
(22)After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived another 300 years in close fellowship with God, and he had other sons and daughters. (23)Enoch lived 365 years in all. (24)He enjoyed a close relationship with God throughout his life. Then suddenly, he disappeared because God took him.
