Key Bible Verse: As iron sharpens iron, a friend sharpens a friend (Proverbs 27:17). Bonus Reading:Hebrews 3:12–15
On my own, I'd never have joined an accountability group. But after a Promise Keep-ers Conference, Steve called and asked if I'd join him and three other men on Wednesday mornings.
"What are we going to talk about?" I asked.
"About our marriages," Steve said, "and how to be more intimate with our wives."
"What do you mean, more intimate?" I asked.
He explained.
I already knew I wanted to change my selfish attitude and be a better husband. This looked like my chance to get started. We began to pray together, study the Word, and discuss our marriages.
[Today's Key Bible Verse] summarizes my experience with these men.
Over time, as our commitment to each other deepened, I began to open up, admitting the lack of confidence I was feeling as a husband, father, and supposed spiritual leader of my home.
At first the "sharpening," when these men asked tough questions and told me what I was really like, was painful. But now, because of my trust in these men, my relationship with my wife is much better. I've also been able to give my father and my sons the blessing of a much deeper relationship.

My Response: What would it take to deepen a commitment to one or more men?
Thought to Apply: He that won't be counseled can't be helped.
