Lindell Cooley has served as the music minister at Brownsville Assembly of God Church in Pensacola, Florida, since 1995. Soon after his arrival there, the congregation experienced a revival that drew widespread attention.

Raised as the only child of a minister in Northern Alabama, Lindell was taught to play the tambourine at age five. He went on to play the drums, bass guitar, organ, and piano. He's drawn on these skills and music production experience in Nashville, recording 11 worship albums, and founding Music Missions International.

What Really Sank the Titanic

One of history's worst maritime tragedies was also one of its most tragic communication breakdowns. Another ship in the area telegraphed to the ocean liner Titanic a warning about the presence of dangerous icebergs—evidently well enough in advance for the ship to avoid a collision. But no one was listening. The operators aboard the Titanic broke off communication with nearby ships to telegraph a series of personal messages from wealthy passengers worried about details related to arrival at their final destinations. These distractions cut off the passengers' only hope, blocking vital communication about the fatal menace in their path.

The enemy's number one goal may be to sever your communication with God. This usually happens when we get in the one-way-asking mode of prayer and cut off communication from God to us. We're far more likely to hear when He speaks something to our hearts in the midst of worship.
