Who Said It
Donald Posterski is the director of church relations with the relief organization World Vision International. He leads global initiatives relating to spiritual formation, Christian witness, and church partnerships.
Don lives in Toronto and is the author of Enemies with Smiling Faces (InterVarsity) and 11 other books. He holds three doctoral degrees and is research professor of Christianity and culture at Tyndale University College and Seminary. What He Said
As I sat across the lunch table from Peter, I could sense his pain. His children were going in directions that alarmed him and his wife. His church was caught up in disruptive conflict. His work environment was increasingly unstable. Faced with such pressures. Peter's spirit was in turmoil.
My question to him was straightforward and direct: "Peter, how is your faith helping you deal with your pain?"
Without a moment's hesitation he responded, "Right now my life is like a spider's web. I have a few anchor points. There aren't very many, but my experience of God's presence in the past is enough to give me confidence that I can withstand the problems in the present."
For the moment, anchor points" was the metaphor that was keeping Peter's life intact.
