Theme of the Week: How Good Feels
Steven Lawson
Friday, September 24, 2004

Key Bible Verse: The generous prosper and are satisfied; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25). Bonus Reading:Mark 10:28–31

Jerry was hurting. He and Becky had left behind a prominent career and comfortable family backgrounds to serve Christ in a Christian ministry in Dallas. They were to raise their own financial support. But, as is often the case under such arrangements, Jerry got far behind in his support. They had precious children to feed—and a bank that liked to be paid.

Jerry's predicament came to the attention of a Christian who'd become successful in the restaurant business. This brother told Jerry, "God has blessed me greatly. I believe I should share it with you. I'll financially support you for x amount. And, by the way, here are the names of ten other businessmen I believe will support you, too."

And they did! In addition, deep friendships were formed. Mutual encouragement was given. Prayer support was established.

Yes, Jerry and Becky gave up house and family to follow Christ. But as they entered into His Kingdom support network, their needs were met. In the process, the families of these godly businessmen fulfilled Christ's [Bonus Reading] promise, providing them with many brothers, parents, and children.
