All in a Lather? Theme of the Week: 'Be Silent, and Know…' Steve McVey Sunday, November 28, 2004

Who Said It
Steve heads Grace Walk Ministries, an Atlanta, Georgia-based discipleship training ministry. He hosts tv and radio programs, travels, and speaks extensively. Broadcasting and ministry have gone together for Steve since the days when he earned his seminary tuition as a disc jockey. Prior to founding Grace Walk, Steve pastored churches for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Melanie, have four children and three grandchildren. Steve is serious about sailing. What He Said
I noticed that I seemed to hear God speak to me while I was taking a shower more often than any other time. I commented on this strange trend to my wife one day. Melanie suggested it might be because that was the only time in my day when I consistently became relatively quiet and still.
A legitimate Christian lifestyle gently flows like water along a riverbank, refreshing all who happen to stumble upon its banks. It isn't a flash flood of activity that honors God. He doesn't lead us that way. It isn't possible to hear His still, small voice whispering while running at breakneck speed.
I've decided that I'm not going to make God take a shower with me just to talk to me. My life has begun to change in many ways since I determined to loosen up my schedule. I'm moving beyond the adolescent stage of religious busyness and beginning to plumb the depths of my loving Father who has patiently nurtured me along.
