Downed Defenses
Theme of the Week: Targeted for Temptation?
Monday, September 26, 2005

Key Bible Verse: Don't lust for her beauty. Don't let her coyness seduce you (Proverbs 6:25). Bonus Reading: Proverbs 7:6-27

Kevin led a Bible study for underclassmen on campus and believed he could handle whatever the Enemy threw at him. But as a freshman taking a computer science class, he stumbled across a favorite left on one of the school computers, which opened a sexual Pandora's box. After sipping porn for a couple of months, Kevin began mentally slobbering over the pretty girls on campus. The deceitful voice of the Enemy suggested that this was anonymous and safer. Behind the sunglasses, Kevin feasted his eyes freely on the curvy bodies of anyone wearing a tight-fitting top, tight-fitting jeans, and open cleavage.

Kevin never imagined anyone catching on to him. But a flirtatious waitress at a nearby diner did. When she served him his pigs-in-a-blanket combo that morning, he was smitten by her winsome smile and unbelievable build. When he asked her out, he didn't think she'd say yes, but she did. He never expected her to invite him over to her apartment, but she did. He never imagined such a "sweet" girl so willing to offer herself on her bed, but she did. Ten years later, Kevin's still dealing with the fallout from dismissing his defensive forces.

My Response: Are any of my defenses starting to weaken a bit?

0Prayer for the Week

Preserve me, Lord, from the stupidity of craving what You, for my protection, have placed off-limits.
