During the 1970s and '80s, the commercial real estate firm Morley Properties was one of Florida's 100 largest privately held companies. But in 1989, based on his own search for meaning, purpose, and a deeper relationship with God, Pat wrote The Man in the Mirror. The impact of this book nudged him to sell his business and found Man in the Mirror, a ministry to men.

One of the greatest reasons men get into trouble is that they don't have to answer to anyone for their lives. Ask around. Very few men, you'll find, have built accountability into their Christian lifestyle.

Some of us have worked our whole life to "be our own boss," so that we won't have to answer to anyone! Others of us, confidential by nature, don't want someone else intruding into our private lives. Still others of us have an interest, but we're unsure of what accountability is, and how to go about it.

Every day men who want to succeed fail morally, spiritually, relationally, and financially because they have blind spots and weak spots, which they surmise they can handle on their own. They can't. And they lose families, their businesses, their jobs, their savings, and damage their relationship with God because no one is there to ask, "How? Why? What? And Who?"—the hard questions.

How can a man so order his life that he has the greatest likelihood of succeeding?

The answer is accountability.
