God has entrusted each of us with a powerful tool. This tool of imagination is a primary ingredient in the world's best paintings, musical scores, architectural feats, hit movies, and technological advances. Every great work is first imagined in the human mind. Unfortunately, many evil and destructive experiences have also incubated and emerged from the human imagination. Sin has infected every imagination and caused it to concoct corruption and dish out devastation.
The pornography industry has gained a huge foothold in the imagination as a commodity. Steamy photographs, adult movies, and X-rated Internet sites leave a vivid imprint on the hard drive of the mind. These images are like a "cookie" left embedded in your computer after you visit a certain Web site. The information stays in your system in case you decide to visit that location again. Each pornographic encounter leaves traces of erotic data in your mind for use at some future moment of weakness or temptation.
Even without an alluring image right in front of you, lust can be enticed by the memory of a scene from a steamy movie or a romantic encounter in the past.
What can you do about an infected imagination? Thankfully, there is hope.
