Who Said It…Mark Jobe
Mark Jobe has a passion to see this generation awaken spiritually. He spent his early years in South America and Europe where his parents were involved in pioneering missions work. After ministry training, Mark took Chicago's New Life Community Church from a handful of people to a dynamic, diverse, multi-site church. Mark and his wife Dee view themselves as a ministry team. They have three young children. What He Said…Marks of Latent Leaders
All four men on our first leadership team were hungry to be used by God. They had four key qualities that comprise the acronym FAST. They were Faithful (willing to commit), Available (gave of their time), Spirit-filled, and Teachable (humbled themselves to learn).
I tried to disciple these men like Jesus apprenticed His disciples. I designated three nights each week to visit members of the church. And each night I took one of the four with me. At almost every point of ministry, I found some way to include the four.
But we also met weekly to pray, learn, discuss, and most importantly, develop friendships. I wanted the group to have fun together and grow close. We had cookouts, retreats, and volleyball games. Our wives got together too.
I knew I could inspire these men from a distance, but the only way to influence them was up close. And when I did bring an apprentice along on a ministry opportunity, I made sure everyone knew, this man isn't my project; this is my friend.
