The Boss Is for You Theme of the Week: God Is God

Key Bible Verse: "I refresh the humble and give new courage to those with repentant hearts" (Isaiah 57:15).Bonus Reading: Isa. 43:10-13
Mr. Holiday treated me like a son, taking a personal interest in me and my development. He called me into his office to tell me how much he appreciated my work. Often he came into the station at night to just sit and talk.
But he was one of the most critical and demanding men I've ever known. No one else has ever "chewed me out" the way he did.
I'd be doing what I considered to be a reasonably good job on the air, and he'd come into the control room and tell me my performance was that of a child. He criticized my writing, my voice, my delivery. I'd be working the midnight shift and he'd call to comment on something I'd said on the air. I came to believe that Jon Holiday never slept!
But I took everything he dished out and liked it, because I knew that Jon Holiday was for me. He made me one of the best broadcasters in the market.
My relationship with the God of the universe is similar. Because I know He is for me, because I know He cares, because I know He loves me, I can deal with almost anything. If God is in charge, it helps a whole lot to know that He is for us.
—Steve Brown in If God Is in Charge …
My Response: Knowing God is for me, what difficulty am I able to face?
Thought to Apply: Down on the corner / They've got it all figured out / Little room for mystery / Little room for doubt.—WAYNE WATSON (in "God in a Box")
