On April 1, our chiropractor invited Valerie to a yard sale the next day. At the sale she overheard one woman tell another that she and her husband intended to downsize. "Can you describe the house you're selling?" Val interjected.
"It sits on eight-tenths of an acre," the woman began. "We have a separate guest unit …" As she went down the items on our list, Valerie sensed God answering our prayer and asked to look at it. Although they had yet to put the house on the market, the woman obliged. After doing a walk-through, Val stepped outside and called me in New York, where I had flown to visit a friend. "Shaun," she exclaimed, "I'm standing in front of our new home!"
I returned next day to an excited Valerie. "I don't care what the price is," she urged; "let's get it."
"No," I reminded her, "we wrote down a price." After we'd walked through the house, I agreed it was a fit. I met the husband with our offer amount written on a slip of paper. My faith started to shake, knowing how badly Val wanted the house and how much more it was worth. "How much do you want for it?" I asked. He told me his price, I handed him my paper: identical!

My Response: Am I willing to do what pleases my sovereign God, even if it's not what I want? Can I rest in his grace?
My Prayer: Your will be done, Lord, not mine. I give my life and this decision to you, knowing that your way is best.
