Key Bible Verse: Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment Jude 23. Bonus Reading: 2 Timothy 2:1-13

During World War II, Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller headed the German Confessing Church movement, which opposed Nazism.

In a recurring nightmare, he saw Hitler standing before the divine judgment seat. Jesus came off his throne, put his arm around Hitler's shoulders, and sorrowfully asked, "Adolf! How could you have done the incredibly cruel, evil things you did?" Hitler answered, "Because no one ever told me about your love for me and what you did for me."

"At that point," Niemöller recalled, "I'd wake up in a cold sweat, because in all my meetings with Hitler, I'd never said anything like 'My Führer! Do you know how much Jesus loves you? That he gave himself up to crucifixion to save you? Do you realize that if you were the only person who ever lived, his love is so great that he'd have come into the world and died just for you?'"

What might have been different for Adolf Hitler and the world had Martin Niemöller carried out the Great Commission?

We dare not judge him, since we've all failed to testify to Christ's salvation on occasions when we sensed we should. But we need to remind ourselves every day that all who take Jesus' commands seriously must witness.
