Men of Integrity, May/June 2008

Weekend Wrap-up
Theme of the Week: Resolving Marriage Discord
Saturday, May 17

In this section of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul lays out how believers are to demonstrate that they've been re-created in God's likeness. These verses zero in on how we communicate with each other and how we deal with anger in ways that build relationships up rather than tear them down.

Interact with God's Word
Ephesians 4:25-27

1. In what way, besides out-and-out lying (v. 25), can we fail to tell others the truth?

2. How does the reason that Paul gives for this command apply doubly to marriage partners?

3. How do bottled up resentments cause bitterness and destroy us from within?

4. How (v. 26) does our anger get out of control?

5. Has there been a time when you damaged your relationship with your wife (or a close friend) by venting your anger thoughtlessly?

6. What is meant by not letting "the sun go down" on your anger?

7. What grudge hung on to or reconciliation step not taken is giving the Devil a foothold in you life right now?

Spend Time in Prayer

Ask God to help you to keep short accounts in your closest relationships, and to take the initiative in seeking reconciliation.

Ephesians 4:25-27

25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26And "don't sin by letting anger control you."Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
