Who Said It … Jerry Bridges
Jerry Bridges is the author of The Pursuit of Holiness, a book that has sold more than a million copies. It explains how you can know God in a way that will transform your life.
Jerry's own life was transformed while an officer in the U.S. Navy. Through the ministry of The Navigators, he came to faith in Christ—and went on to join that organization's staff. Fifty-three years later, he's still training its college division staff and remains in demand as a campus speaker. What He Said … The Nuts and Bolts of Trust
Did your car break down when you could least afford the repairs? Did you miss an important meeting because the plane you were to fly in developed mechanical problems? The God who controls the stars in their courses also controls nuts and bolts and everything on your car and on that plane you were to fly in.
When I was an infant I had a bad case of measles. The virus settled in my eyes and in my right ear, leaving me with monocular vision and deafness in that ear. Was God in control of that virus, or was I simply a victim of a chance childhood disease? God's moment-by-moment sustaining of his universe leaves me no choice but to accept that the virus was under his controlling hand. He wasn't looking the other way when it settled in the nerve endings of my ear and the muscles of my eyes. To trust God, we must learn to see that he is continuously at work in every aspect and every moment of our lives.
