Key Bible Verse: Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs 16:3). Bonus Reading: Psalm 37:3-5, 18-19, 23-24, 34-40

I feel called to be an entrepreneur. In late 2003, together with a former business partner, I founded a search engine venture called Become.com. Soon after we moved into our new offices, I invited my pastor to lead a dedication service for our company. He and his wife brought a gift: a framed verse, [today's Key Bible Verse], in both English and Korean. I hung it behind my computer monitor, where I'll see it every day. God powerfully uses this verse to hold me accountable and to encourage me.

Life as the CEO of a Silicon Valley internet start-up company can be both exhilarating and stressful. The ups and downs have been like a roller-coaster ride: When things go well, I'm prone to become overly confident and prideful. But when things are down, I'm prone to feel stressed out, insecure, and discouraged. In both situations, the verse hanging on my wall reminds me that God is in control.

Committing whatever I do to him means I need no longer worry about all the fluctuations in my business. It allows me to daily surrender both my work and my company to God. It also frees me up to follow his will by loving my employees and the other people I encounter.

My Response: One way I've seen God establish his plan in my life is …

Thought to Apply: Recognizing that we are where we are because God put us there gives our lives a sense of purpose.—Richard Kew (British author)

0Prayer for the Week

Teach me, Lord, to accept that You are in control, even when I can't make sense of what's happening to me.
