When God led me to start a church in Tulsa, Brenda shared in the decision. As the pastor, I thought that I should arrive at the church before the other members did. I also thought it would be a good idea for the pastor's wife to get there on time. With three baby girls, what had previously been a minor problem had grown worse.
As I sought a solution, I noticed that as our three girls grew, so did their hair—and that it took Brenda 45 minutes to do their hair.
Brenda never asked me to help get the girls ready for church, but I decided I should. I gave the girls baths and helped them get dressed. I even learned to do their hair. I did this as an expression of love to Brenda, which helped us become more of a team.
The way we treat the children leaves a lasting impression on our wives. It also helped me bond more with my daughters. I don't want them to marry guys who are going to sit on the sofa while they do all the work (remember that everything you do creates a legacy).
I don't consider myself a wimp; I'm a man trying to make his wife feel loved and appreciated.
