A woman approached speaker Zig Ziglar and confided, "I don't know what to do about my unbearable job. The people are horrible and my boss is awful."
"Lady, I'm sure it's as bad as you say," Zig replied. "I'm also sure that it's going to get a lot worse."
When she asked why, he explained, "Because I don't believe any company can survive such a high concentration of poison in one place."
She said, "What can I do?"
"Write down the things you like about your job."
"There's nothing I like about it."
"Well, you get paid, don't you? Do you like that?"
"I like the paycheck, of course."
"Do they provide hospitalization insurance for you?"
"Yeah."
"You like that, don't you? Where do you live?" She said she lived close to her workplace. "Well, if you like that, write it down. Is your workplace uncomfortable? Do you just die on hot days?"
"Oh no, it has air conditioning." By the time she'd finished, her list was 22 items long.
A few weeks later, Zig ran into her and asked how she was doing. "You'd be amazed," she said, "at how much the people at my company have changed!"
