Who Said It … Woodrow Kroll
Woodrow Kroll has served as the president and Bible teacher of the Lincoln, Nebraska-based Back to the Bible radio and TV ministry since 1990. Prior to that he was first a pastor, and then Bible teacher and president of Practical Bible College (now Davis College) in Binghamton, New York.
Dr. Kroll's passion is to increase biblical literacy by engaging people in the Bible and connecting them with its Author. His teaching is also conveyed in the more than 50 books he's written. What He Said … Gifted and Called
If you're born again, you're called to serve the Lord. How? As God has gifted you. Paul says, "Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body … each of us has different work to do" (Romans 12: 45).
I believe that God doesn't call us to a specific ministry without gifting us for that ministry. I believe just as strongly that God doesn't waste his gifts. He doesn't gift us for specific service and then not call us to it. "God's gifts and his call can never be withdrawn" (Romans 11:29). If a pastor sees a young man in his church who is gifted for ministry, what right does he have to send him off to the state university to major in computer science?
Is there a definite call of God on a person's life? Yes. It's specific and supernatural. Is it sudden or spectacular? Rarely. God's call is spiritually discerned and usually comes to a yielded and tender spirit.
