Key Bible Verse: We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives (Colossians 1:9). Bonus Reading: 1 Peter 4:10-11

Sometimes God's wiring for an individual is revealed by stages or in different seasons of life. Consider Greg. During his college years, he became interested in banking. Believing God had wired him for this and given him this desire, he took classes to prepare for it. After graduation Greg got a job in a bank and, over time, worked his way up to be a bank examiner. He enjoyed his position and felt fulfilled. Moreover, Greg showed real character, honesty and integrity in his role. Humble toward others, he showed kindness and respect to both his superiors and those he supervised. He fulfilled Jesus' charge to be both salt and light in the financial world.

Years later, Greg began thinking God had also created him with capacities for another role and was nudging him toward it: the pastorate. With his passion for full-time ministry growing, he enrolled in seminary. Eventually he was

invited to a small church and, for decades, built it. God's calling and anointing were obvious. Thus, God had wired him for both banking and the pastorate. What he'd learned and the skills he'd developed in banking—listening and speaking skills, wielding authority with care, and building God-honoring relationships—carried over into the pastorate.

My Response: In this season of my life, what new vocational options should I seriously consider?

Thought to Apply: Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. —Leo Buscaglia
