Connecting with God Theme of the Week: Pause that Refreshes Monday, June 8, 2009
 1 of 1

Key Bible Verse: "Look, I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends" (Revelation 3:20). Bonus Reading: Psalm 139:23-24
Are you intentionally connecting with God, your wife, your children, and connecting in your profession, community and church? You may say, "I go to church, I pray with my children, and I even attend a small group. Aren't I doing enough?"
Yes and no. The basic connection points I just mentioned can't be treated as a mere checklist. I've known men who joined every program their church had available to men, who sat in the pew every time the door was open, and who conducted themselves on the outside as deeply spiritual men. But that only made them busier. When it came to connecting quietly with God, they'd grow nervous and incapable of being still and reflective.
I've also known wise, spiritually deep men who would participate in some church activities and sometimes read the Bible with their families but not always, and yet have a comfort in connecting with God that was obvious to all who came within 50 feet of them.
What was the difference? Transparency. Not until you open your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to do surgery on your areas of need will you become radically connected to God.
